Marzanna, also known as Morena: Slavic winter goddess.
The ancient Poles made effigies of Marzanna out of straw and
myrtle, which they ritually burned or drowned to ward off the winter chill and
welcome the warmth of spring.
Marzanna is related with Witchcraft and divination, and she
controls the gloomy winter months as well as death.
