Ala is a West African earth deity.
- Ala is a Nigerian deity of the Ibo tribe.
- She is the goddess of death as well as the Mother of All Things.
- As queen of the underworld, she invites the souls of the deceased back into her womb, giving birth to the beginning of all life.
- Ala despises any deadly act, which she sees as a disturbance of life and death's natural cycle.
- Her emblem is the crescent moon, and her temples, depicting her as a sitting lady cradling a tiny infant, are typically built in the heart of communities.

Goddess Akwaba Or Akuaba
Akwaba, sometimes spelled Akuaba, is an African mother deity.
- The Ashanti people of Ghana hang Akwaba pictures above doors as a sign of welcome, assuring visitors that they would be properly looked after once they enter the house.
- When young maidens begin to menstruate, they are given her picture as a symbol that they are being welcomed into motherhood.
- Akwaba guarantees that women have no problems conceiving and that pregnant women have healthy, beautiful offspring.
